Attach additional sheets if necessary. Plan of work MUST include depth, width, and type of surfacing material to be used.

Construction Requirements Reminder

  • The City of Lenox zoning administrator must check soil before construction.
    • If soil is compact and well drained, driveway can be placed directly on soil
    • If soil is not well drained, a four (4) inch sub-base must be placed
  • All new driveways must be of paving which includes any kind of hard surfacing, including but not limited to Portland cement concrete, bituminous concrete, brick, or a combination of such materials
  • Driveways must be at least six (6) inches thick
  • Driveways must be at least ten (10) feet in width or include a 20-foot opening into a paved street
  • Driveway maximum width at curb line shall be twenty-five (25) feet, unless the Council approves a greater width
  • Driveway slope shall not be less than one-fourth inch per foot toward the roadway
  • When constructing a driveway, you must provide for a passage of water along the gutter by grinding the curb to the City's satisfaction, or pour concrete at least 18 inches past the curb line into the street and pin it to the existing concrete
  • The City of Lenox zoning administrator MUST be contacted once work is complete

The Zoning Administrator will have five (5) business days to inspect the completed driveway. Permit approval shall not be considered final until all inspections are completed and all work is approved. Any work found to be non-compliant shall be required to be repaired or replaced. If the work has not been properly completed, the City shall have the right to finish or correct the work, and the Council shall assess the costs to the property owner. Such assessment shall be collected with the general property taxes and in the same manner.
