City Council Regular Meeting Minutes

August 24, 2026 · 5:30 p.m. · City Hall

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor Douglas on August 24, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Peterson, Huffman, Tull, Hodges and Beck. Staff present was City Clerk, Dawne Bowman. Visitor at the meeting was Colleen Larimer.

Beck made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

Peterson made a motion to approve 8/10/26 regular meeting minutes, seconded by Hodges, all ayes, motion carried. Tull made a motion to approve payment of the bills, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried.

There was a discussion held on the Scooter Ordinance, as Kitzman talked with the City Attorney about the ordinance following the last meeting. City Attorney, Matt Hanson does not support impounding scooters, as it could turn into a liability issue for the City and we do not have a secure storage for scooters. Hanson is in favor of implementing a fine; however, would like the verbiage to read “up to $100.00 for first offense and up to $200.00 for additional offenses”, rather than a straight $100.00 for first offense. The council agrees that we should not impound scooters at this time, but would like clarification on how the “up to” will be figured. Council discussed the different violations, who would be implementing the fines and how would the fines be established. Mayor Douglas stated that “up to” is very gray. Bowman advised the council that Attorney Hanson also agreed how education and/or a safety class would be helpful. This will be on the next agenda.

Bowman discussed the Lenox Municipal Pool Inspections. There were 3 violations and will be corrected in the mandatory 45 days.

Peterson made a motion to approve Ownership Update for Casey’s General Store Alcohol License, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

Tull motioned to adjourn the meeting, Hodges seconded, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 5:40 PM.
