CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

July 8, 2024 · 5:30 p.m. · City Hall

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor Douglas on July 8, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Peterson, Tull, Hodges and Cruz; Nelson was absent. Staff present was City Clerk, Dawne Bowman and City Administrator, Allison Kitzman. Visitor was Colleen Larimer.

Hodges made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried. Peterson made a motion to approve 6/24/24 meeting minutes, seconded by Hodges, all ayes, motion carried. Tull made a motion to approve payment of the bills, seconded by Cruz, all ayes, motion carried. Peterson made a motion to approve June 2024 Clerk Treasurer Report, seconded by Hodges, all ayes, motion carried.

Kitzman advised the council that she has spoken to Taylor County Secondary Roads regarding the speed limit on Brooks Street, in which they are communicating with the Taylor County Supervisors.

Tull made a motion to approve Resolution 24- 28 Transfer from Emergency Fund to Golf Funds, seconded by Hodges, all ayes, motion carried. This amount is $19,606.31.

Kitzman presented the council with a draft for the Baby Pool Renovation Project. The cost estimate of the project is approximately $344,000.00 and Leading Ladies of Lenox would like to move forward with grant applications so the project would be ready for swim season of 2026.

Tull made a motion to approve Resolution 24- 29 To Participate in Planning and Development Programs of Southern Iowa Council of Governments, seconded by Cruz, all ayes, motion carried.

Hodges made a motion to approve Resolution 24- 30 Investment Funds at PCSB, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried. This is for 2 CD's, Fire Department and Gas Department for a term of 6 months at 5.05%.

Peterson made a motion to re- appoint Kay Smith to the Library Board for a term of 6 years, ending July 2030, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

Peterson made a motion to approve appointment of Becky Haidisak to the Library Board for a term of 6 years, ending July 2030, seconded by Hodges, all ayes, motion carried.

Hodges made a motion to approve re- appointment of Kirk O'Riley to the Board of Adjustments for a term of 5 years, ending July 2029, seconded by Cruz, all ayes, motion carried.

Tull motioned to adjourn the meeting, Cruz seconded, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 5:40 PM.
