CITY OF LENOX

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor Douglas on August 9, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Bowman, Brown, Tull and Zabel; Cruz was absent. Staff present was City Clerk, Dawne Bowman and City Administrator, Allison Kitzman. Colleen Larimer and Deputy Pafford were also present.

Bowman made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Brown, all ayes, motion carried. Brown made a motion to approve 07/26/21 meeting minutes, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried. Brown made a motion to approve the payment of bills, seconded by Zabel, all ayes, motion carried. Zabel made a motion to approve July 2021 Clerk Treasurer Report, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

There was nothing new to report for library repairs.

Tull made a motion to approve Resolution 21- 33 Adopting Pay Rate for Jenny Robinson, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Kitzman discussed abatement options for abandoned properties at 305 North Pine and 710 West Michigan. City Attorney expressed the option of Nuisance Abatement (Dangerous Building) procedures already set in place or the other option would be going through District Court to gain possession of the property. There was a discussion on lien holders on each of the properties.

Brown left the meeting at 5:40 PM.

The property at 305 North Pine is believed to be occupied on occasion with no utilities. Deputy Pafford reported on the property as it is a neighbor. The Council decided they would like to move forward with abating these properties however Kitzman and the City Attorney see fit.

Bowman made a motion to approve estimate from J&N Stephens, LLC in the amount of $7,000 for new windows and replacing the siding on the east side of City Hall, seconded by Tull, all ayes, motion carried.

Zabel made a motion to approve estimate from Kingery Awning Mfg. Co. in the amount of $4,920 for 3 new awnings, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried. Kitzman added the awning could also have the City logo on it. There was also discussion on new signage for City Hall and Lenox Chamber. Kitzman mentioned that we would like these projects done by the end of the year.

Tull motioned to adjourn the meeting, Bowman seconded, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:10 P.M.
