City Council Regular Meeting Minutes

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor Douglas on August 12, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Vogel, Borland, Custer and Bowman. Staff present was City Administrator, Allison Kitzman and City Clerk, Dawne Bowman. Other visitors were Tyson Brown, Jeff Godwin and Colleen Larimer.

Bowman made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Custer, all ayes, motion carried.

Vogel made a motion to approve 7/22/19 meeting minutes, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried. Vogel made a motion to approve the payment of the bills, seconded by Custer, all ayes, motion carried. Vogel made a motion to approve July 2019 Clerk Treasurer Report, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve Ramsey’s Market Cigarette/Tobacco/Nicotine/Vapor Permit, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried.

Jeff Godwin with Snyder & Associates was present to discuss the Engineering Agreement for the Golf Course Sponsored Project. There were questions regarding the time frame this project would take and the tile line from the west of the project. Godwin explained that, depending on the weather, the project would take 2-3 weeks to a month to complete and they could hook onto the tile line. Council all agreed to begin the project towards the middle of October and access at the northeast corner on city owned property. Bowman made a motion to approve the Engineering Agreement for the Golf Course Sponsored Project with Snyder & Associates, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried.

There was 1 application received for the City Council vacancy. Borland made a motion to appoint Tyson Brown as new City Council member to fill vacancy with a term ending 12/31/2019, seconded by Custer, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve Jo Adams to the Planning & Zoning Commission with a term ending 4/2023, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve 2018-2019 Outstanding Obligation Report, seconded by Vogel, all ayes, motion carried.

Borland made a motion to approve Makinna Fitzgerald wage increase to $10 per hour for the remainder of the 2019 pool season, seconded by Vogel, all ayes, motion carried.

Borland made a motion to approve Mike Bowman to fill vacancy on Taylor County Ambulance Board with term ending 7/2021, seconded by Custer, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to re-appoint Jean Barrans, Dan Ricks and Rosa Cruz to the Lenox Neighborhood Center Board for a term of 2 years, ending 8/2021, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Vogel made a motion to approve Resolution 19-25 Setting Time and Date of September 9, 2019 at 5:45 PM for Public Hearing on 2019 Urban Renewal Plan Amendment for Lenox Economic Development Urban Renewal Area, seconded Custer, all ayes, motion carried.

Vogel moved to adjourn the meeting, Custer seconded, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:05 P.M.
