City Council Regular Meeting Minutes

July 23, 2018 · 5:30 p.m. · City Hall

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor Douglas on July 23, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Bowman, Custer, Borland and Vogel; Ramsey was absent. Staff present was City Clerk, Dawne Bowman. Other visitors were Shari Burger, John Borland, Karen Zabel and Colleen Larimer.

Bowman made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried.

Borland made a motion to approve 7/9/18 meeting minutes, seconded by Custer, all ayes, motion carried. Vogel made a motion to approve the payment of the bills, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried. Custer made a motion to approve June 2018 Clerk Treasurer Report, seconded by Vogel, all ayes, motion carried.

Borland made a motion to approve Special Events permit for the Dally Post Saloon, LLC and the Lenox Stock and Saddle Club for the rodeo street dance, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Borland made a motion to approve outdoor service liquor license for Dally Post Saloon, LLC, seconded by Vogel, all ayes, motion carried.

Shari Burger presented the council with the annual library report.

John Borland was present to discuss some possible upgrades to the campground at the golf course. Borland added that due to the popularity of the campground, they are looking at grants with SICOG and noted some improvements, such as a new sewer system with a grinder pump, internet service to the campground, playground equipment, storm shelter with a bathhouse, and also possibly expanding the campground by 3 or 4 spots.

Borland made a motion to approve resignation of Joann Helm from the Low Rent Housing Board, seconded by Custer, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer made a motion to approve the appointment of Vicki Christensen to the Low Rent Housing Board to fill unexpired term ending February 2020, seconded by Bowman, all ayes, motion carried.

Borland made a motion to re-appoint Rob Lundquist to the Neighborhood Center Board for a term of 2 years, ending August 2020, seconded by Vogel, all ayes, motion carried.

Karen Zabel was present to discuss Ordinance 378 and Ordinance 379. There were several questions on current ordinance and parking regulations. It was the consensus of the council for the Sheriff's Department and Attorney Zimmerman to attend the next meeting.

Custer made a motion to approve USDA Grant Agreement for the Neighborhood Center, seconded by Borland, all ayes, motion carried.

Custer moved to adjourn the meeting, Vogel seconded, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:25 P.M.
