Gas Service Requirement: A $200 gas deposit is required for new residents. This is fully refundable after one year of consistent on-time payments.

Iowa law requires you to notify utilities at least 48 hours before any excavation project.

Paint Your Home Program

Beautification grants funded by the Vern Reynolds Trust ($6,953.54 available annually).

Program Requirements

  • Home must be owner-occupied and within Lenox city limits.
  • Exterior use only; home must be hand-painted (no spraying).
  • Homeowner must complete the application and provide dimensions for paint calculation.
  • Paint colors must be approved by the City Council.
  • Project must be completed by October 30th of the approval year.
  • Must paint the primary home before qualifying for accessory structures.
  • Approval is determined by City Hall staff.

Deadlines & Extensions

Applications are accepted March 1st through June 30th. Projects must be completed by October 30th. Failure to complete the project requires reimbursement of all funds to the City. One extension may be requested, subject to City Council approval.
