CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

May 11, 2026 5:30 p.m. City Hall

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor Douglas on May 11, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Huffman, Tull and Beck; Peterson and Hodges were absent. Staff present was City Administrator, Allison Kitzman and City Clerk, Dawne Bowman. Visitors at the meeting were Colleen Larimer and Deputy Pafford.

Tull made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Beck, all ayes, motion carried. Beck made a motion to approve 4/27/26 regular meeting minutes, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried. Tull made a motion to approve payment of the bills, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried. Tull made a motion to approve April 2026 Clerk Treasurer Report, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried.

There was a discussion on the road project, in which Kitzman mentioned having a full council before any final decisions were made on the project. It was decided to let the public know via social media and the newspaper that this will be discussed at the next council meeting on 5/26/26 and the council would appreciate any and all public comments on this.

Tull made a motion to approve Resolution 26-13 Tax Abatement for JP's at 413 West Michigan, seconded by Beck, all ayes, motion carried.

Beck made a motion to approve Tiger Lanes Class C Retail Alcohol license renewal, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried.

Beck made a motion to approve Dally Post Class C Retail Alcohol license renewal with outdoor service, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried.

Kitzman discussed the Stormwater Project Final Plans, as this project will be getting underway soon. The project is estimated at approximately $300,000 and will include new sewer intakes, new manholes, new stormwater lines, street patching repair and sidewalk repair. City of Lenox Public Works will be doing the work on this project. Kitzman presented the council with a map of the project. The new stormwater line will start on Main Street and end on Maple Street. This new line will eliminate the flooding on Main Street.

Deputy Pafford entered the meeting at 5:47PM.

Tull made a motion to approve Resolution 26-14 Seasonal Pool Employee Wage, seconded by Beck, all ayes, motion carried. This resolution is the same as the previous year.

Tull made a motion to approve changing next council meeting date from 5/25/26 to 5/26/26 due to Memorial Day, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried.

Tull made a motion to approve Resolution 26-15 Authorizing Bids for 2026 Cemetery Road Paving, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried. Bids on this project are due June 4, 2026 at 2:00 PM with the Public Hearing and Award Contract and at the June 8, 2026 meeting.

Tull motioned to adjourn the meeting, Huffman seconded, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:00 PM.
