CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

January 26, 2026 5:30 p.m. City Hall

A regular meeting of the Lenox City Council was called to order by Mayor ProTem Tull on January 26, 2026 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall with the following council members answering roll call: Peterson, Huffman, Tull and Hodges[cite: 13]. Staff present was City Administrator, Allison Kitzman and City Clerk, Dawne Bowman[cite: 13]. Visitors at the meeting were Deputy Peterson, Gas Superintendent, Blake Horton and Colleen Larimer[cite: 13].

Hodges made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Peterson, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13]. Peterson made a motion to approve 1/12/25 regular meeting minutes, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13]. Hodges made a motion to approve 1/19/26 Special meeting minutes, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13]. Peterson made a motion to approve payment of the 1/26/26 bills, seconded by Hodges, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13].

Deputy, Erik Peterson introduced himself[cite: 13].

Hodges made a motion to approve Resolution 26-01 Adopting IAMU Operator Qualifications Plan Revision 1.1, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13]. The revision included some grammar changes and a review of the O & M procedures for specific tasks prior to staff taking written or oral exams[cite: 13].

Gas Superintendent, Blake Horton presented the council with a power point on Natural Gas Public Awareness[cite: 13].

Peterson made a motion to approve JP's Special Class C Retail Alcohol License renewal, seconded by Peterson, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13].

Hodges made a motion to approve JP's Class C Retail Alcohol License, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13].

Peterson made a motion to approve lease with Midwest Golf Carts for 2026 season at a cost of $11,400, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13].

Kitzman stated there was 1 bid for the interior back wall at the library[cite: 13]. Peterson made a motion to approve bid from Lincoln's Lawncare for the interior back wall at the library in the amount of $2,300, seconded by Huffman, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13]. Kitzman added that the timeframe would be immediately and should take 1 day for the removal of the plaster wall and clean up[cite: 13].

Deputy Peterson explained to the council that he will be attending 1 council meeting per month and providing some sort of statistics for their time in Lenox[cite: 13]. Peterson added that he would like to see number of tickets and warnings given[cite: 13].

Hodges motioned to adjourn the meeting, Huffman seconded, all ayes, motion carried[cite: 13]. Meeting adjourned at 5:45 PM[cite: 13].
